*Assembly talk*

Thursday, January 21, 2010 8:36 AM

Today's assembly talk was about Responsibility in Words and Deed. The teacher talked about how to be a responsible pupil. To be a responsible pupil you have to be:

  • To be punctual.
  • To help one self
  • To help others too.

There are also awards we can win as a class or individually like the:

  • Modest Pupil award.
  • Most punctual class award ( Sounds weird.)
  • The Class decoration award???

I hope they are right. Right? We also have to promise our promises to be a responsible person.

Next topic!

What is graciousness??

Graciousness can mean by:

- Characterized by kindness and warm courtesy.
- Characterized by tact and propriety: responded to the insult with gracious humor.
- Of a merciful or compassionate nature.
- Condescendingly courteous; indulgent.
- Characterized by charm or beauty; graceful.
- Characterized by elegance and good taste: gracious living.
- Enjoying favor or grace; acceptable or pleasing.

Why is it important for the society to embrace the value or graciousness??

If nobody is having the value of graciousness, then NO one would respect each other. None of us would have the discipline to control ourselves or even listen to other's people advices. We have to have the values of graciousness because of that and most importantly, we won't be able to communicate well as graciousness is not in our values.

Here's a story of graciousnes:

I was driving along Marymount Road when my car spluttered to a stop. Despite numerous attempts to restart the engine, it refused to come to life. Petrol! The last ounce of petrol was used up. An inexperienced driver's nightmare had turned into reality - I forgot to fill up the tank!
Desperate and helpless, I sought help from the nearest petrol station about 150 metres away. "Sorry, I can't help you," came the dreaded response of the petrol kiosk attendant. I persisted at my only chance for aid, to no avail. He could not and would not be persuaded.
"Young lady, let me help you." The welcome assurance came from a smiling grey-haired man. What a relief it was to me!
With a tin of petrol in hand, he followed me to my car. It did not take long for him to pour the can of petrol into the tank with a paper funnel. And I thanked him profusely for his help.
"It's nothing much" was his reply. He reacted as if it was the most natural and ordinary thing to do.
His simple kind act and attitude towards helping others touched me deeply.

That is also a form of graciousness and kindess to one and to others. That's all for now. BYEX!!!!!
